'Love Song' pulled from EP

A few days ago I posted the current track list of the EP. Today, I’m updating it: Love Song has been pulled, and replaced by a new track that does not yet exist.

Love Song was running behind, which was fine — everything else is moving strongly. But when I sat down to work on it last night, it became clear it wasn’t behaving itself in relation to the rest of the EP. At that point, the decision made itself: this is a very special song to me, and it belongs on my planned debut album, Scratch & Stray.

No existing track felt like a natural replacement, so I decided to build something new specifically for the track 5 position—something that plays well with what surrounds it. I made two attempts last night. One was deleted this morning; the other was stripped back to just drums and percussion. That rhythmic core is now the new track, and it’s where I’ll be working next.

I don’t know what the song will be about yet.

I’m sharing this because I think it’s worth showing artistic curation in real time: how ideas are reduced, reshaped, and sometimes discarded entirely in service of a stronger release.
