'Bitch' explained
Bitch is an interesting song to me, and something of a loaded one, so I thought I'd explain it today.
After about a year of studying Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal and earning my top 0.5% of listeners badge, I randomly decided one day that it was time to make my imitation piece. I wanted a track that took the middle verse of Bonkers and sustained that pressure and made it longer.
I used Ritchy by Dreamtonics for SynthV Studio to get a male rapping voice and dropped my first ever rap over some music I created for the piece. As a topic, I just randomly chose something I feel intensely about - Thai Ladyboys. So, the song was called 'Thai Ladyboy'.
I showed it to my parents but didn't think they were quite the audience for it, so I sent it to my female cousins (4 girls from the same immediate family) who I have a group chat with. My cousins loved it and thought it was my best song yet, and very catchy.
ChatGPT, however, was less impressed. It didn't like the lyrics or the topic. It said I was generalizing a diverse group of people as a certain stereotype - thai bar girls (prostitutes). I told it, however, that something about this track was special and that it had been called my best and catchiest by humans. I decided it was ok if I made the song about a certain thai bar girl I'm aware of from the internet.
At that point, the opening line changed from 'A thai ladyboy is what turns me on' to 'A bitch like you is what turns me on', and the entire song was re-written around this premise. My decision to use the word 'bitch' was a simple one - I used to use the word a lot in my creative experiments back in the day and I was determined to use it well one day. And I thought this was that opportunity. I find this use of it layered, especially as the song plays out.
I went through a phase of listening to it quite a bit, and its been considered by me in a variety of ways, such as a b-side that would only be used as an extra on a single or something, but it currently holds the number 2 position on the EP, and acts as your introduction to Scratch as a character.
